The Career Action Program (CAP) is the CSPD's signature professional development program, which offers 17 hours of professional development to business students.
In partnership with the our academic faculty, CAP is available to students who have completed or are currently enrolled in the required business course, MGT 3003 Business Communication and Professional Development.
Since its inception in 2008, more than 3,200 business undergraduates have completed the program, with many receiving job and internship offers while in the CAP program.
CAP provides students with the knowledge and experience to give them a competitive edge, by connecting academic learning, experiences and professional development.
What is CAP?
CAP offers a comprehensive overview of resume writing, interviewing and professionalism along with workshops where students practice interviewing, making introductions, networking and business etiquette. CAP comprises three key components.
The CAP Conference is an all-day event that introduces students to the finer points of the business world. Conference highlights include keynote speakers and corporate teams coaching students on the importance of a good elevator speech, interview preparation and business etiquette.
Mock Interview Sessions are led by potential employers to give students an experiential learning opportunity in interview skills. Students come professionally dressed and receive crucial feedback to prepare for real-world interviews.
Speed Networking Events allow students to practice networking in a high-level experiential learning event with business iprofessionals. Corporate volunteers serve as hosts and coaches for the students.
Students who participate in the program will graduate with a set of skills that will be invaluable in their professional careers.
